In the latest news from the Starwood saga, Anbang has submitted a new offer to Starwood to purchase the Hotel chain at $82.75 per share, almost $14 Billion in an all cash deal. In contrast, the latest Marriott offer was worth about $13.6 Billion in a cash + stock deal, and because of changes in stock prices, is worth slightly less than that now. It is clear that Anbang is not going away from these negotiations and it is unclear whether or not Marriott will submit another proposal at this point, but I doubt this story is over yet.
Starwood announced this past weekend that they will be expanding to Cuba in 2016! They are the first US hotel chain given permission by the US Treasury to operate in Cuba. As travel to Cuba becomes easier, now you can book hotels with points!

Starwood Hotels and Resorts has signed a deal to sell to China’s Anbang! The $13.2 billion offer was too much to ignore compared to the Marriott $12.2 billion deal that looked like it was a sure thing. Anbang already owns the Waldorf Astoria in New York.

Back in February, I posted about the JetBlue transition from American Express to Barclaycard, and as of today, you can apply for one of these new cards. There are actually 4 cards, 3 of which are new. The fourth card is what American Express customers will receive and is not open to new applications at this time.
United is great for booking award travel since they don’t charge high taxes or surcharges, and using United to book Lufthansa Business Class is great for other reasons as well. Sometimes you may be looking for award availability for more than 2 people, and this means that you can pretty much forget about First Class. The availability isn’t there. With Business Class, you have a chance to find award availability for a larger group. In this post, I’m going to share a recent award flight search for a group of 6 people.
American Express recently raised the signup bonus on the Starwood Preferred Guest cards to 35K Starpoints, and in this post I’m going to show you how you can get up to 166K Starpoints with the offers on these cards! These offers are set to expire on March 30, 2016, so NOW is the time to do this. Since you can only receive the signup bonus on all American Express cards once per lifetime, you should take advantage of these offers. For this to work, you will need to work with your spouse or significant other AND it also requires that neither of you have ever had one of the Starwood Preferred Guest cards.
The 30K signup bonus on both the personal and business US Bank Korean Air SKYPASS credit cards has returned! The regular bonus on these cards is only 15K miles after the first purchase, so this is DOUBLE the standard bonus! This offer is good through April 30, 2016.
