Anbang Submits New Offer To Starwood

In the latest news from the Starwood saga, Anbang has submitted a new offer to Starwood to purchase the Hotel chain at $82.75 per share, almost $14 Billion in an all cash deal.  In contrast, the latest Marriott offer was worth about $13.6 Billion in a cash + stock deal, and because of changes in stock prices, is worth slightly less than that now.  It is clear that Anbang is not going away from these negotiations and it is unclear whether or not Marriott will submit another proposal at this point, but I doubt this story is over yet.

Starwood Signs Deal To Sell To China’s Anbang!

Starwood Hotels and Resorts has signed a deal to sell to China’s Anbang!  The $13.2 billion offer was too much to ignore compared to the Marriott $12.2 billion deal that looked like it was a sure thing.  Anbang already owns the Waldorf Astoria in New York.

Marriott Rewards Premier Visa 80,000 Point Bonus

Chase recently increased the signup bonus on the Marriott Rewards Premier Visa to 80,000 points, up from the standard 50,000 points!  Until recently, there was also an offer for 50,000 points and a $200 statement credit, but that is no longer available.   With this offer, the annual fee is NOT waived the first year, so is the additional 30,000 points worth paying the annual fee?

22 New Hotels You Can Book With Marriott Points

There are now 22 new hotels you can book with Marriott points!  Marriott announced this week that the Marriott Rewards program is being expanded to include Delta Hotels & Resorts, with hotels throughout Canada and also in Florida.  22 hotels are being added now, with another 14 becoming available in late April.  You can now earn and redeem points at these locations.
